Breathwork at Sammā — conscious breathing as a passage into the body

Breathwork

One of the most direct ways to influence the body and mind — adapted breathing rhythms used as a precise therapeutic tool, to regulate the nervous system and reconnect with the present moment.

Breathwork is one of the most direct ways to influence the state of the body and mind. The breath sits at the heart of human regulation — shaping the nervous system, oxygenation, heart rhythm, emotional balance, focus, and the way we inhabit our body.

At Sammā, breathwork gathers techniques from contemplative traditions and modern physiology. Each session uses the breath as a precise therapeutic tool: to calm the nervous system, release accumulated tension, open the chest, improve body awareness, and create a direct experience of presence.

Under the guidance of the practitioner, you move through breathing rhythms adapted to your state and intention — from alert calm to deeper emotional release. Over time, the breath becomes a resource you can return to anywhere, anytime: a simple, powerful way to regulate yourself, reconnect to the body, and come back to the present moment.

How a session unfolds.

Individual session 60 minutes; group sessions also available.

  1. 01

    Listening & Intention

Each session begins with a short exchange about your current state, your intention and any specific need. The practitioner adjusts the breathing protocol to your sensitivity, your physical condition and your goal for the session.

  2. 02

    Preparation of the Body

Lying or seated comfortably, you are guided through a short body scan and gentle preparation — relaxing the shoulders, opening the chest, finding a posture in which the breath can move freely.

  3. 03

    Guided Breathing

The practitioner leads you through a precise breathing sequence — calming, energising or releasing depending on the intention. The voice supports the rhythm and the attention throughout, and the work is adjusted in real time to what your body shows.

  4. 04

    Integration & Sharing

A quiet time allows the body to settle. At the end, you exchange about your sensations. The practitioner may share a short practice to bring home — a few minutes of breath you can use as an everyday tool.

Questions we often hear.

Most breathing protocols are safe for most people. Specific cardiovascular, neurological or psychiatric conditions may ask for adjustments — we invite you to share your medical history with the practitioner before the first session, so that the protocol can be tailored to you.

A single session can already bring a noticeable shift. Regular practice over several weeks deepens the nervous-system regulation. The practitioner may guide you toward a personal practice you can carry into your daily life.

Coverage depends on your complementary insurance and on the qualification of the practitioner. We invite you to check your contract before the first session. Sammā issues invoices that meet Swiss complementary-billing standards.

No. The practitioner meets you where you are and adjusts the practice accordingly. Both beginners and experienced practitioners are welcomed.
