Photobiomodulation, or PBM, is a non-invasive light-based therapy that uses red and near-infrared light to support the body’s natural processes at the cellular level. This light is absorbed by the mitochondria, where it may help stimulate ATP production — the body’s cellular energy — while supporting circulation, tissue repair, inflammation regulation, and recovery.

At Sammā, PBM is delivered through the TheraLight system, a whole-body photobiomodulation technology designed to expose large areas of the body to therapeutic light in a calm, comfortable, and non-invasive setting.

How a session unfolds.

    Intake & Indication

    The practitioner reviews your situation and the area you wish to address. The protocol — wavelength, duration, frequency — is defined according to the indication and to recent research.

  2. 02

    Positioning

    You position yourself in front of the panel or under the targeted device. The body is exposed to the precise wavelengths for a defined time. No heat, no contact, no discomfort.

  3. 03

    The Session

    During the session, you simply rest. The body absorbs the light at the cellular level. Many people experience the moment as deeply restorative.

  4. 04

    Tracking & Adjustment

    Most indications ask for a series of sessions. The practitioner adjusts the protocol over time and tracks the markers — pain, sleep, recovery — in dialogue with you.

Questions we often hear.

PBM is considered safe for most people when delivered with calibrated devices and standard eye protection. Specific medications (notably photosensitising drugs) may ask for adjustments — we invite you to share your medical history before the first session.

Most indications ask for a series of 10 to 20 sessions, spaced according to need. The practitioner defines the protocol based on the indication and reviews the markers at regular intervals.

Coverage depends on your complementary insurance. We invite you to check your contract before starting a series. Sammā issues invoices that meet Swiss complementary-billing standards.

Each session lasts 20 to 30 minutes in front of the device. The session itself is silent, calm and non-invasive.
